Defenseman Rob Kwiet Assigned To Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Rob Kwiet ["KWIT"] has been assigned to the Royals from the Providence Bruins of the AHL. In separate transactions also announced today, the Royals (i) activated defenseman Nick St. Pierre from the 3-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) activated defenseman Scott Fletcher from bereavement leave; (iii) transferred defenseman Scott Langdon from the 7-Day Injured Reserve to the 21-Day Injured Reserve; (iv) placed defenseman Eric Werner on the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (v) placed forward Stefano Giliati on the 7-Day Injured Reserve.

Kwiet (6'1/218) (21), a first year pro from Toronto, Ontario, has picked up ten penalty minutes in fifteen games with Providence this season. Last season, Kwiet scored twelve goals and assisted on fifty-five others in sixty-six regular season games with the Windsor Spitfires-second best amongst defenseman on the team-as Windsor won the Ontario Hockey League's regular season championship. Kwiet, who played to a team best +54 for the Spitfires, and his Windsor teammates went on to win not only the OHL playoffs but also the Memorial Cup Championship last season.

The Royals return to the Sovereign Center tonight (Friday, November 27 @ 7:05 pm) when the Trenton Devils visit Reading. The first 1500 fans will get a collector's edition 'Royals in the NHL' player card set courtesy of VF Outlets. The radio broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast kicks off at 6:35 pm.
