Everblades Double Up on Walleye 6-3

Toledo, OH-The seventh meeting between the visiting Florida Everblades and the Toledo Walleye proved to be a difficult contest. Both teams appeared evenly matched and the first period ended 1-1. The Everblades took a 3-1 lead at the beginning of the second, but Toledo fought back and the stanza ended 4-3 in favor of the ‘Blades. The third period saw two more goals and the Everblades won 6-3.

The Florida Everblades drew first blood in Toledo with a power-play goal from Ryan Lang; Kevin Baker and Harrison Reed assisted on the goal. Toledo tied the game at 18:03 to end the first stanza in a stale mate.

The second period saw the battle continue as Florida quickly took a two goal lead. The first tally was by team captain Kevin Baker, who shot one home off of assists from Ryan Lang and Harrison Reed. The second goal was scored by Dylan Stanley with help from Phil Paquet at the 6:52 mark. Toledo hit back with goals from Adam Hobson and Evan Rankin to tie the game at 16:13. The ‘Blades were determined and with only 24 seconds remaining, Harrison Reed slipped one past Toledo goalie Billy Sauer to end the period 4-3.

It was a tight contest, but the Everblades gained some breathing room when Jordan Morrison gave the ‘Blades a two goal lead. He recorded his marker at 6:28 off of Dylan Stanley and Phil Paquet. However, Florida wasn't done and at 14:14 Ernie Hartlieb scored to end the game 6-3.
