Defenseman Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre Assigned to Syracuse on Conditioning Assignment

Syracuse, NY (January 30, 2003) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre to Syracuse on a conditioning assignment.

Grand-Pierre, 25, has appeared in a combined 172 career NHL games with Buffalo and Columbus, recording three goals, 11 assists and 195 penalty minutes. He played in 192 career AHL games with Rochester, tallying 14 goals, 18 assists and 425 penalty minutes. In 24 games with Columbus this season, Grand-Pierre recorded one goal and 43 assists. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Grand-Pierre was acquired by Columbus from Buffalo with Matt Davidson, a fifth-round pick in the 2000 Entry Draft and a fifth-round pick in the 2001 Entry Draft for past considerations on June 23, 2000.

The Crunch travel to Binghamton Friday, January 31 for a 7:05 p.m. match-up. Syracuse returns home on Saturday, February 1 to host the Rochester Americans, featuring Bradley's Jewelers Diamond-In-A-Bag program.
