
Walker Loaned to IceCats

Worcester, MA- It was announced this afternoon by the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League (AHL) that defenseman Matt Walker has been returned on loan to Worcester from the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL).
The 6-1 defenseman laced the skates up for nine games with the Blues during his recall to the NHL. Recalled by St. Louis on January 3rd, Walker made his NHL debut on January 4th against Tampa Bay and registered his first NHL point, an assist, on January 18th against the Chicago Blackhawks. His totals with the Blues were one assist and 15 penalty minutes: 9(0/1/1)15. The Alberta native is in his third season as a member of the Worcester IceCats. The 1998 selection of the Blues has appeared in 30 IceCats games this season, notching five assists and a +14 rating: 30(0/5/5)+14. Matt was a member of the IceCats record setting 108 point and AHL Regular Season Championship team in 2000-01 and was named the IceCats Most Improved Player that season.
Yesterday evening, the Worcester IceCats recalled forward Brad Voth from the Peoria Rivermen of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The 6-5 right wing has appeared in four games with the IceCats this season, recording no points and 16 penalty minutes: 4(0/0/0)16. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Voth skated in 32 games for the Peoria Rivermen prior to his recall. With Peoria, he registered one goal, three assists and 173 penalty minutes: 32(1/3/4)173.
Also yesterday, the St. Louis Blues reassigned goaltender Cody Rudkowsky to the IceCats. Prior to his arrival in Worcester, the Willingdon, Alberta born backstop appeared in 23 games with the Trenton Titans (ECHL), registering a 14-4-5 record.
The IceCats are in Bridgeport Friday night before hosting the Binghamton Senators on Saturday night at Worcester's Centrum Centre. Game time is 7:05 PM.
