Defenseman Dirk Assigned to Kalamazoo

Indianapolis, IN. - The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced that defenseman Jagger Dirk has been assigned to Kalamazoo from Utica on Saturday morning.

Dirk, 25, is in his first professional season after a four year collegiate career with St. Francis Xavier (USport). Appearing in 114 games, the defenseman recorded 73 points (15g, 58a). During his senior season he was named to the All-Canadian First Team, as well as AUS Defenseman of the year, and an AUS First-Team All-Star. The Pentiction, BC native made his professional debut with the Binghamton Devils at the end of last season, appearing in seven games while recording one assist.

The defenseman is expected to be available on Saturday night and will wear number 44.

In a corresponding move defenseman Eric Kattelus was placed on Injured Reserve.

Kalamazoo opens the home portion of the season on Friday, Oct. 19 against the Ft. Wayne Komets.
