
Defenseman Byrne, Right Wing Hemingway Reassigned to the Worcester IceCats

Peoria, Ill. (March 4, 2005) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that second-year defenseman Trevor Byrne and right wing Colin Hemingway have been reassigned to the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Worcester IceCats.
Byrne â a 6-foot-3, 218-pound native of Weymouth, Mass. â has collected 12 points (4g, 8a) and a +16 plus/minus in 19 games with the Rivermen over two reassignments, the most recent of which began on February 10. The 24-year-old backliner has seven points (1g, 6a) in 34 games over two stints with Worcester this season. The fifth round selection (143rd overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft competed in six games for the Rivermen last season over two reassignments without a point.
Hemingway â a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan â posted 11 points (5g, 6a) and a +4 plus/minus in the last seven games with Peoria. On the season, the 24-year-old has 18 points (8g, 10a) in 20 games with the Rivermen. The eighth round selection (221st overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft has played just four games with the IceCats this season. He finished the 2003-2004 regular season with the Rivermen on a nine-game point streak with 16 points (9g, 7a) and a +13 plus/minus, and he posted 44 points (20g, 24a) and a +29 plus/minus (T-2nd among ECHL rookies) in 36 total games with the team.
The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL â The Premier "AA" Hockey League. On Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m., the Rivermen host the archrival Toledo Storm in the first of two in a row between the clubs at Carver Arena. It is Disco Night, and the team will wear special Disco-themed jerseys to be auctioned off after the March 25 game to benefit Counseling & Family Services. It is also Circle K Team Photo Night, and the first 4,000 fans will receive a Rivermen Team Photo. Local favorites "Jammsammich" will perform in a post-game concert. On Saturday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m., the Rivermen and the Storm battle again. It is Church Night presented by the Berean Bookstore, and "Jars of Clay" will perform in a post-game Christian concert. It is also Circle K Team Photo Night, and the first 4,000 fans will receive a Rivermen Team Photo. On Sunday, March 6 at 3:00 p.m., Peoria welcomes the Trenton Titans to Carver Arena. It is the fourth and final Peoria Journal Star/Insight Media/InPlay Family Day. Kids 12 & Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl admission, and there are $2.50 Kids Meals. Dora the Explorer will appear courtesy of Nickelodeon.
