Defense Lifts Palm Beach past Marauders 2-1

Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (9-5, 41-43) fell 2-1 to the Palm Beach Cardinals (10-4, 42-42) on Wednesday at McKechnie Field. The Cardinals plated a pair of runs in the second inning against LHP Jayson Aquino (L, 3-8) and made them stand up.

Two Marauders runners were thrown out at the plate during the game, and a potential game-tying hit in the seventh was robbed on a diving catch by C.J. McElroy in center. C Reese McGuire drove in the only Bradenton run during a seventh inning rally.

Cardinals starter Cory Littrell (W, 4-6) fired his second scoreless start against the Marauders this season to earn the win. Kevin Herget recorded his second save in a span of 15 hours.

NOTES: The game began at 10:33 a.m. under sunny skies, 84 degrees, and wind blowing 6 mph from left to right ... The loss is the 20th one-run defeat for the Marauders this season; Bradenton had won all five of their one-run games this half before this series ...
