Astudillo, Threshers Walk off Again

Clearwater Threshers News Release
CLEARWATER, Fla. - For the second straight day, the Clearwater Threshers and Lakeland Flying Tigers found themselves knotted up and targeted for extra innings.
Again it was the Threshers who emerged on top, as Willians Astudillo delivered the game-winning hit in a 5-4, walk-off win in ten innings on Wednesday afternoon at Bright House Field.
The Threshers (11-3), who won in walk-off fashion in 12 innings on Tuesday night, are now 11-3 in extra inning affairs.
Deadlocked at four, Carlos Tocci got things going in the bottom of the tenth by knocking a single up the middle against reliever Julio Felix (3-2). Andrew Pullin was then hit with an 0-2 pitch to push the winning run into scoring position with nobody out.
Rhys Hoskins lifted a deep fly ball to center field for the first out, but the ball was hit well enough to allow Tocci to tag and advance to third with just one away.
Astudillo came through in the clutch to send the Threshers home a winner, grounding a single to center to easily score Tocci with the decisive tally.
Miguel Nunez (2-2) earned the win after three hitless innings in relief. The righty allowed just one baserunner, as Raph Rhymes reached on a two-out error in the eighth inning.
Ricardo Pinto struggled early, but settled in to give the Threshers seven innings in the start.
Lakeland (5-8) raced out to a 4-0 advantage after a sacrifice fly by Javier Betancourt and a three-run shot by Francisco Martinez in the opening frame.
After the rocky first inning, Pinto dominated the rest of the way. The right-hander retired 18 of the last 20 men he faced, spinning six shutdown innings to hold Lakeland at bay.
Clearwater tied it against Locke St. John in the fifth inning. After Wilson Garcia walked and Derek Campbell collected his first single in a Threshers uniform, Chase Harris brought them both in by hooking a double into left to cut the deficit in half.
A walk and an out later, Pullin brought the score even by delivering a two-run single to center.
Harris led the offense on Wednesday with a 3-for-4 performance out of the nine-hole, his second-straight three-hit game.
Clearwater will go for the three-game sweep on Thursday as the series wraps up at 7 p.m. Matt Imhof (3-3) will take the hill against Jonathan Maciel (3-7), and the call can be heard on the Threshers Broadcast Network beginning at 6:45 p.m.
