Kansas City Current News Release
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Current has announced that defender Hailie Mace, whose contract runs through Dec. 31, 2025, will leave the club at the end of her contract to pursue other professional playing opportunities.
"We thank Hailie for everything she's given to this club, the community, and the city over the past four years," said head coach Vlatko Andonovski. "I've really enjoyed working with Hailie. She's a true professional who gives everything she has every day. From the moment she arrived in Kansas City during our first season, she's helped set higher standards for everyone around her. She's a remarkable player and an even better person, and she'll always be a part of this club's story. We wish her nothing but the best in the future."
Mace joined the Kansas City Current in July 2021 - the club's inaugural season - via a blockbuster trade with the North Carolina Courage. She signed a three-year deal with the Current in December 2021 before another contract extension the following year. She landed on the NWSL Best XI Second Team in 2022 during her first full season in Kansas City, and her three career NWSL Best XI of the Month selections all came when she donned a Current uniform.
The versatile defender concludes her time in Kansas City with 95 appearances, 79 starts, over 7,000 minutes, five goals and 11 assists in the regular season. Mace totaled over 1,500 minutes in each regular season from 2022-25 and her 11 regular season assists is tied for the club record. In 2025, she helped lead a Current back line which set NWSL records for regular season shutouts (16), consecutive shutout minutes (869) and consecutive clean sheets (9) while helping the club clinch its first-ever NWSL Shield.
