Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Thanks to a go-ahead, three-run homer from Craig Dedelow, the Dash claimed a 5-4 win over the Carolina Mudcats in game two of a doubleheader in front of 6,981 fans on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark.
With the game tied at two in the bottom of the sixth inning, Jameson Fisher and Zach Remillard hit back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners. Dedelow then crushed a mammoth home run down the right field line against Carolina (30-25) starter Braden Webb (0-2) to give the Dash (30-24) a 5-2 lead. The lefty slugger is now tied for the team-lead with eight homers on the season.
After falling in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Winston-Salem struck first in the twin bill finale. Carlos Perez led off the bottom of the third inning by smashing a solo homer to left to give the Dash a 1-0 lead. It was the first home run of the season for Perez.
The Dash added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Remillard singled into center field before moving to third on a double by Dedelow. Perez then hit a groundout to third allowing Remillard to score.
The Mudcats finally got on the board against Dash starter Jorgan Cavanerio in the sixth. Ryan Aguilar and Tristen Lutz started off the frame with back-to-back singles. Mario Feliciano's fielder's choice took Lutz off the basepaths, but it allowed Aguilar to reach third. Pat McInerney then singled into left to score Aguilar and make it 2-1.
Following a Rob Henry flyout, Eddie Silva deposited a single into left to score Feliciano and tie the game at two.
After Dedelow's homer gave the Dash a three-run lead, Carolina threatened in the top of the seventh against Dash reliver Jose Nin (2-1). With two outs, Lutz singled up the middle. Feliciano then ripped a double down the left-field line to score Lutz and make it 5-3. A wild pitch by Nin allowed Feliciano to reach third, and Zach Clark followed by hitting an infield single to score Feliciano and make it 5-4.
The Mudcats continued to rally after Clark's hit. Rob Henry and Eddie Silva stroked back-to-back infield singles to load the bases. But, Nin was able to strikeout Julio Garcia to end the ballgame.
Winston-Salem begins a three-game series at Fayetteville on Sunday night. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.
Following the three-game road trip and an off day, the Dash return to BB&T Ballpark for a seven-game homestand that runs from June 6-12. The homestand includes four games against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and three games against the Salem Red Sox.
Promotions in the four-game set with Myrtle Beach include a Lowes Foods Thirsty Thursday and a Pups in the Park Night presented by Handy and Handy Orthodontics, a Star Wars Night on June 7, a Live Music Saturday and a Lowes Foods Family Sunday.
