(Greensboro, NC- July 6, 2014)- The West Virginia Power fell in walk-off fashion to the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Sunday afternoon at NewBridge Bank Park 9-6. Austin Dean blasted a three-run home run in the ninth to give the Grasshoppers the series victory.

West Virginia and Greensboro traded runs in the first on an Edwin Espinal RBI single in the top half and a wild pitch plating Felix Munoz in the bottom half. Francisco Diaz doubled in a pair in the second for the Power, but Greensboro answered with two on a Munoz RBI double.

JaCoby Jones led off the third with a solo home run and then added to the lead with another solo blast in the fifth. Kawika Emsley-Pai mashed his second home run of the season to give the Power a 6-4 advantage in the sixth.

The Grasshoppers, however, came storming back. Greensboro plated two to tie the game in the eighth on an RBI triple off the bat of Carlos Lopez and a Carlos Duran sacrifice fly. Then, in the ninth, Austin Dean blasted a three-run home run with one out to give the Grasshoppers the win.

Isaach Sanchez (2-1) was charged with the loss while Sean Donatello (3-0) earned the win. JaCoby Jones became the first Power player to hit a home run in three consecutive games since 2012 when Jose Osuna did it in Greensboro.

West Virginia visits the Delmarva Shorebirds on Monday, July 7, at Perdue Stadium. Buddy Borden will start against the Shorebirds Mitch Horacek.
