CLEARWATER, Fla. - Carlos De La Cruz and the Threshers' offense exploded for a four-run frame that pushed Clearwater ahead of the Bradenton Marauders 6-3 on Thursday night.

Bradenton (46-32) led off the scoring in the top of the second inning. Jase Brown drew a four-pitch walk and promptly stole second base. Alexander Mojica singled him home with a sharp line drive into right field for an early 1-0 lead.

Clearwater (38-37) manufactured a run in the third to tie the ballgame. Kervin Pichardo and Junior Ortega drew back-to-back walks and advanced a base on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch allowed Pichardo to score and even the mark 1-1.

The Marauders pushed ahead in the fourth inning after Endy Rodgriguez doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a passed ball that gave them a 2-1 lead. Bradenton extended the advantage by one more in the fifth inning on a bases-loaded walk for a 3-1 score.

The Threshers' offense ignited in the bottom of the sixth inning. Arturo De Freitas reached base on a throwing error and scored on a double off the bat of Juan Aparicio. Aparicio reached third on a wild pitch and later crossed the plate on a grounder into left field from Wilfredo Flores to knot the game up at 3-3. Clearwater broke the three-all tie thanks to a double from Carlos De La Cruz that sent two home and the Threshers surged past the Marauders 5-3.

De La Cruz put an exclamation mark on the Thursday night contest with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 6-3 victory.
