FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Dunedin Blue Jays' pitching staff limited the Mighty Mussels to just two hits in an 8-0 victory at Hammond Stadium Thursday.
Blue Jays (36-44) hurlers faced just two batters over the minimum, issuing two walks while also rolling a pair of double plays.
Dunedin starter Sem Robberse (5-4) went five scoreless innings while surrendering just one hit. Relievers Elixon Caballero and Rafael Monsion followed up with two shutout frames to give the Jays the lead in the series.
The lone bright spot for Fort Myers (41-37) was Bradley Hanner, who struck out four over 1.1 scoreless innings of relief.
Mussels starter Landon Leach (0-1) matched a career high with five innings pitched, but allowed four runs on six hits.
Eight of the nine Dunedin starters recorded a base hit, as the Blue Jays scored in six of their nine offensive innings.
Fort Myers will look to even the series at 7 p.m. on Friday. Bobby Milacki (0-2, 4.09) takes the ball for the Mussels, opposed by Nathaneal Perez (1-2, 8.77) of Dunedin. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on the Mighty Mussels Baseball Network.
