Dayton, OH - The Dayton Dragons (25-22, 59-57) dominance of the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays (21-27, 53-64) continued on Friday night with a 14-4 win in front of 8,798 at Fifth Third Field. Dayton has won ten in a row at Fifth Third Field over Southwest Michigan and 15 of 17, including nine consecutive in 2006, dating back to July 10, 2005.

Daniel Guerrero (WP, 4-3) who out dueled Burlington's Chris Nicoll to pick up his third win of the year in his last home start on August 6th, picked up his second consecutive win at Fifth Third as he went head to head with another opposing ace, Southwest Michigan's Jake McGee (LP, 7-9). Mc Gee came in to Friday's start with the league lead in strike outs at 153 and was seventh in the Midwest League with a 2.63 ERA. McGee was gone after 3.0 innings, getting roughed up for seven runs, all earned, on seven hits. The Dayton starter out lasted his counter part tossing 6.0 innings of two hit shutout baseball. Guerrero struck out two, walked two and hit one on route to his third consecutive win.

McGee gave up four runs in the Dragons second inning and allowed three more in the third as Dayton jumped out to a 7-0 lead. In his last two starts at Fifth Third Field, the Devil Rays lefty has allowed 12 runs, all earned, in just 5.0 innings of work. A wild pitch scored the first run in the Dragons second inning, a bases load walk forced home the second and a Mike Griffin two RBI single jumped the lead to 4-0. In the third, B.J. Szymanski picked up the second of his four hits on a perfect 4-4 night, driving home the fifth run of the night. With two down in the third, Gerardo Cabrera knocked in a pair with a two run double to left.

The Dragons would continue to add runs in the middle innings, picking up two in the fifth and one more in the sixth inning off a pair of Devil Rays pitchers. Craig Tatum's two run homer in the fifth made it 9-0. In the sixth inning a throwing error by Cesar Suarez plated the 10th Dayton run of the night.

Southwest Michigan finally got on the board in the top half of the seventh inning, snapping a 29 inning scoreless drought with a pair of runs off Sean Watson (ND). Christian Lopez picked up a run with an RBI double and Jason St. Clair added an RBI ground out. The Dragons answered with four more in the bottom half of the seventh inning, with two runs on an Adam Rosales single and two unearned off Drew Bigda (ND).

The Devil Rays picked up a pair in the top of the ninth inning off Rainer Feliz (ND) to close the scoring at 14-4.

The Dragons and Devil Rays continue the four game series Saturday evening at Fifth Third Field. Dayton will send LHP Travis Wood (9-3, 4.27 ERA) to the mound while Southwest Michigan will throw RHP Wade Davis (6-10, 3.32 ERA). Saturday's game will be televised live on "Dragons TV," Time Warner Cable Channel 25 beginning at 7 PM with guest announcer and Reds Hall-of-Famer Tom Browning. 1410 ESPN Radio WING AM will carry the game live beginning with the Dragons Magazine Show at 6:00 PM.
