Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Quad Cities River Bandits (affiliate of the Kansas City Royals) in a doubleheader. These are games four and five of a six-game series. Tonight's doubleheader was scheduled after last night's game was rained-out.
This is the first doubleheader of the season for the Dragons.
2021 Season Series: Dayton 2, Quad Cities 1. This is the only series in 2021 between the two clubs.
Player Notes
Jacob Hurtubise has hit safely in nine straight games, going 13 for 30 (.433) to raise his average from .200 to .327. He leads the High-A Central League in On-Base Percentage (.472). He is fourth in the league in batting average and tied for seventh in runs scored. Hurtubise has 13 stolen bases on the year to rank tied for second in the league and tied for fifth in all of Minor League Baseball (120 teams). He has stolen eight bases in the last five games.
Alex McGarry has hit two home runs in his first five games with the Dragons. Including his seven games at Daytona, McGarry has hit six home runs in 12 games this season.
Juan Martinez has hit safely in four straight games, going 6 for 18 with a home run and seven RBI.
Miguel Hernandez is 4 for 9 with four RBI in the current series to snap a 2 for 21 slump.
Reliever Braxton Roxby has not allowed a run in 10.1 innings, surrendering just three hits and six walks. He has struck out 18 of 44 batters faced.
Reliever Jacques Pucheu has allowed one run in 13 innings this season (0.69 ERA). Opposing batters have gone 5 for 43 (.116) against him.
Reliever Francis Peguero has allowed only one run in seven innings, allowing just four hits and two walks.

HITTING: After averaging 2.8 runs per game over the last 12 games entering this series (17 runs in each six-game series vs. Lansing and South Bend), the Dragons have scored 23 runs in their first three games vs. Quad Cities (7.7 runs per game). The Dragons averaged 6.7 runs per game in their first series vs. Great Lakes.

PITCHING: Dragons pitchers have allowed an opponent batting average of .209 (second best in the league, .01 behind Great Lakes).
Dragons relief pitchers had posted a 1.73 ERA over the last 11 games prior to Wednesday night, when they allowed only nine earned runs in 46.2 innings. The bullpen surrendered 10 earned runs in four innings on Wednesday. They bounced back Thursday, allowing one run in five innings.
FIELDING: The Dragons committed have committed only 17 errors in 21 games, ranking first in the league in team fielding.
Transactions: On Thursday, Dragons pitcher Eddy Demurias was promoted to Chattanooga. Pitchers Johnnie Schneider and Karsen Lindell have been transferred to the Reds complex league club in Goodyear, Arizona. Pitcher Pedro Garcia was promoted from Daytona (Low-A). Pitchers Andy Fisher and Matt Gill have been promoted to Dayton from the complex league club in Goodyear.
