Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the West Michigan Whitecaps (affiliate of the Detroit Tigers) in the first game of a three-game series. Season Series to Date: Dayton 2, West Michigan 1.

Last Game: Thursday: South Bend 2, Dayton 0. The Cubs avoided a sweep of the three-game series by winning the finale. Cubs starting pitcher Erich Uelmen (6.2 IP, 6 H, 0 BB, 5 SO) combined with two relievers on an eight-hit shutout. Both South Bend runs came on a one-out double in the fifth by Jared Young. Hendrik Clementina led the Dragons offense with two hits including a double. The Dragons still claimed their first winning road series since May 4-6 at Clinton.

2018 Team Notes

Dragons pitchers allowed just five runs (and only three earned runs) in the three-game series at South Bend (26 innings), posting an ERA of 1.04.

The run totals for South Bend in the last series (2, 1, 2) marked the three lowest run totals of the season for a Dragons opponent in a Dragons road game. Dragons pitchers had not allowed less than three runs in a road game until that series.

The Dragons have committed just two errors in their last eight games.

The Dragons team ERA in their 31 wins is 3.21 (278 IP, 99 ER). The ERA in the 34 losses is 7.12 (285.2 IP, 226 ER).

The Dragons are 4-19 against Bowling Green and Lansing this season; 27-15 against the rest of the league.

2018 Individual Notes

Hendrik Clementina is hitting .327 on the year with a .607 slugging percentage. He is tied for fifth in the MWL in home runs with nine despite not having enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting lead. With his current averages, he would rank fourth in the league in batting average and second in slugging percentage if he qualified.

Hunter Greene over his last five starts: 23.2 IP, 20 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 7 BB, 27 SO, 2.28 ERA.

Dauri Moreta in his last three relief appearances: 5.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 11 SO.

John Ghyzel ranks first in the MWL lead in saves with 12.
