Dayton Bombs Cyclones, 5-1

FAIRBORN, Ohio - Dayton Bombers Forward Dan Riedel netted a goal and had three assists to pace the club to a 5-1 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday night. The loss was the first in five games against Dayton (4-0-1), dating back to November 1.

The game kicked off a stretch of six straight road games for the Cyclones, who will not return to U.S. Bank Arena until Tuesday, January 6.

Dayton scored twice in the opening period, as Mike Looby collected his third of the season at 10:34 on the power play. The Bombers extended the lead before the frame ended when Dan Riedel netted his 13th of the season at 19:55, with just 4.9 seconds to go. It was the fourth straight period Cincinnati had given Dayton a goal in the final minute of a period. Dayton outshot Cincinnati, 15-10, in the opening stanza.

Dayton collected the only score of the second period, as Jarret Lukin netted his twelfth goal of the campaign on the power play at 10:01. The Cyclones won the shots on goal battle, 12-9, in the period.

The Cyclones opened the scoring with their only goal of the night at 6:55 of the third period, as rookie Mark Van Guilder snapped a shot from the slot for his sixth goal of the season, as Frederic St. Denis and Jimmy Kilpatrick added the assists. Dayton got goals 30 seconds apart late in the period from Les Reaney (his fourth) and Mike McLean (his eleventh) to end the scoring. Cincinnati outshot Dayton, 10-6, in the final frame. The Cyclones won the shots battle for the game, 32-30.

The Cyclones are now 12-12-5 on the season, while Dayton is 17-9-3. Cincinnati plays the middle game of its three-in-three on Saturday at Wheeling for a 7:35pm start. The game will be carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5), as well as on the club's website: www.cycloneshockey.com.
