Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY- In what Head Coach Jeff Jarnigan considered to be the biggest test of the season, the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (3-0) made the 16-hour bus ride to Green Bay to take on the Blizzard (2-2), picking up their second road win of the season and improving to 3-0 with a 44-32 win over Green Bay.
The Yard Dawgz struggled in the first quarter. Down 12-0, Craig Strickland found Anthony Dingle in the endzone, only to have the touchdown called back after an offensive penalty. Things began to look up for Oklahoma City towards the end of the first half.
Strickland connected with Jarrail Jackson with 6:39 left in the 2nd quarter, to put the Yard Dawgz on the board 12-7.
Green Bay quickly responded with a 13-yard pass to Robert Garth, extending the Blizzard's lead to 11.
Oklahoma City was down but not out. With :30 remaining in the first half, on 4th and 9, Strickland landed a 33-yard pass to Dingle, pulling the Yard Dawgz to 18-13 going into halftime.
The Yard Dawgz looked like a new team coming out of the half and continued their 20-0 run into the third quarter; on two touchdowns from Jackson and an additional six points by Al Hunt.
Jackson finished the night with 5 receptions for 59 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hunt added one touchdown on 4 receptions and 71 yards. Dingle led all receivers with 10 catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Strickland was 19-33-0 for 248 yards and six touchdowns on the night and named the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game for the second week in a row.
Oklahoma City returns to the Ford Center on Saturday, April 29th at 7:05 PM to take on the Amarillo Dusters. The last time Amarillo was in town they knocked the Yard Dawgz out of the playoffs.
The Yard Dawgz were in Amarillo last week picking up their second win of the season, as they beat the Dusters 61-44.
