Manchester Wolves News Release

The arenafootball2 league office announced today that veteran af2 kicker Wes Virgilio has been assigned to the Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional football team.

Virgilio (6-0, 192, Victor Valley JC) is entering his sixth season in the af2, with stops in Florida, Greensboro, Memphis, Macon and Cape Fear/South Georgia already under his belt. He entered the league in 2001 with the Florida Firecats as a 19-year-old place kicker out of Estero High School in Estero, Fla., and is considered by some to be the youngest player ever to take part in a professional football game.

His best season came in 2004 with Cape Fear, when he made three of four field goal attempts and connected on 38 of 55 point after tries, while averaging 50.8 yards per kickoff. Vergilio replaces former Wolves kicker Matt Russell, who was cut this week after missing both of his field goal attempts this season and only connecting on seven of 11 point after tries in two games.

The Wolves will take to Brady Sullivan Field with their new kicker in tow this Saturday night, April 22, at 7:30 p.m., as they take on the Albany Conquest on Touchdown Towel Night at the Verizon Wireless Center. Each fan will receive a touchdown towel to wave throughout the game to cheer on their Wolves!

The addition of Vergilio marks the 10th kicker that the Manchester Wolves have been assigned since their arrival in 2004.
