Coaches: Chris Siegfried, Spokane Shock
Steve Perdue, Amarillo Dusters

THE STAKES: The Dusters seek their first win of the 2006 campaign, and look to protect their 16-3 record at home. The Dusters were hammered on the road by the Arkansas Twisters in week one, 58-20. They made drastic improvement, falling short to the OKC Yard Dawgz at home last week 61-44. The expansion Shock are riding high on a 3-game winning streak, and played at home in Washington in front of 10,000 fans last week. This is their first long road trip of the season.

COACH PERDUE'S THOUGHTS ON SPOKANE:
"Coach Siegfried has coached in this league a long time, and he's always been very successful. We faced him last season when he was with South Georgia, and we've got three games to review from this season, so we have a pretty good feel for what they like to do. It's nothing flashy, they just focus on execution. They play disciplined football, and they play hard for him. We feel like we made great progress from the Arkansas game to the OKC game, and we expect the same amount of improvement this week. Athletically, we match up great. We have to win the mental part of the game. "

LEARNING CURVE IMPROVING:
The Dusters suited up 16 rookies in games 1 and 2, and will do the same in game 3. The Dusters are the youngest team in af2 with respect to years of arena football experience.

KEY MATCHUP: DEFENSIVE SECONDARY PLAY
Spokane has played very solid defense over three games, allowing only 42.0 ppg, while the Dusters have been torched for 59.5 ppg in their two contests. The Dusters will move Jahmal Fenner to the middle DS position this week, as Marques Kelley rests a sore hamstring. Although the Dusters' defense is keyed by the pass rush, the secondary must improve in order for the team to avoid an 0-3 start.

ALL EYES ON THE NEW GUY
After arriving on Tuesday morning, new Offensive Specialist Derek Jones made his presence felt in practice...so much so that he will be starting on Saturday night against the Shock. The 6'5 Jones played quarterback and wide receiver at West Virginia. To make roster room, Josh Richey will not suit out this week for the Dusters.
