Davis Placed on Disabled List; Lorick Activated From DL

KODAK - The Chicago Cubs announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster prior to this evening's series finale against the Jacksonville Suns at Smokies Stadium.

Catcher Taylor Davis has been placed on the Disabled List, retroactive to July 9. The backstop in his 28 games for the Smokies this season has posted a .278 average (20-72), adding a home run and 13 RBI.

In a corresponding move, left-handed reliever Jeff Lorick has been activated from the Disabled List. Prior to being placed on the DL, the southpaw compiled a 2-2 record and 5.17 ERA (22 ER in 38.1 IP) in 29 relief appearances with Tennessee.

Tennessee's active roster stands at 25, and a revised roster is attached.

The Smokies are scheduled to begin their series this evening with the Jacksonville Suns, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. RHP Matt Loosen (4-3, 5.21) is set to take the hill for Tennessee, while Jacksonville is slated to send LHP Chipper Smith (3-3, 4.15) to the mound.
