WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Dash hit the ball all over the yard, compiling 23 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Wilmington in front of 5,538 fans Friday night. Winston-Salem rallied for a 5-3 win in game one before cruising 11-3 in game two.

Winston-Salem (36-24) trailed 3-1 when play resumed in game one. The Dash pushed across two runs in the third to tie the game. A two-out rally began with a Dan Black double. Brady Shoemaker followed with a single to bring in Black and reached third after Mike Blanke doubled. A throwing error plated Shoemaker to tie the game 3-3.

The Dash took the lead in the fourth when Jake Oester tagged from third to score on a fly ball off the bat of Trayce Thompson. Winston-Salem added an insurance tally in the seventh inning when Oester came to the plate with the bases loaded. He singled to bring home Shoemaker for a 5-3 lead.

Steve McCray (2-0) delivered six scoreless innings to keep the Blue Rocks' bats silent. Nick McCully entered in the eighth and locked down his fifth save of the season. Wilmington's three runs in the game were all scored in the first inning, which took place April 22.

Game two was never in doubt. Thompson's two-run triple in the first set the tone in a 12-hit, 11-run effort. Wilmington (28-33) cut the deficit to a run on a Jake Kuebler home run in the third, but the Dash countered with a run in the bottom of the inning for a 3-1 edge.

A four-run fifth put the game out of reach. Mike Blanke came to the plate with the bases loaded and drove everyone in with a double off the wall in left-center field. Blanke came around to score on a Juan Silverio fly ball. Thompson added to his RBI total in the sixth inning when he crushed a two-run homer over the right field wall. He finished 3-for-4 in game two with 4 RBI.

The Dash pitching was equally impressive in game two of the twin bill. Matt Heidenreich (5-2) allowed one run and scattered three hits in six innings of work.

Winston-Salem looks to take the series behind right-hander Justin Collop (5-1, 4.58 ERA) Saturday night. Wilmington sends righty Jason Adam (1-8, 3.57 ERA) to the mound. First pitch is set for 7:00.

Winston-Salem hosts the 2012 California-Carolina League All-Star Game Tuesday, June 19. For tickets and more information call (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
