WOODBRIDGE, VA - Sandy Leon and Destin Hood had big performances offensively as the Nationals swept a doubleheader from the Dash on Saturday night at Pfitzner Stadium. Potomac won game one 7-3 and took game two 4-1, holding Winston-Salem to a season-low two hits in the process.

In game one, the Dash (29-26, 61-64) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning on Andy Wilkins' RBI infield single, but Potomac scored three times in the bottom of the frame to move ahead. With one out, five straight Nationals reached base. Hood drove in one run with a double and Leon snapped the tie game with a two-run bases loaded double to make it 3-1.

Potomac (30-25, 59-65) scored three more runs in the fifth against Leroy Hunt. Hood led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a steal and error to give the Nats a 4-1 lead. Sean Nicol and Eury Perez drove in the other runs to bring Potomac's lead to five.

Winston-Salem scored twice in the sixth on a two-run triple by Juan Silverio, but the Nationals got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning to account for the final score.

Paul Demny (9-10) earned the win with five innings of work, allowing three unearned runs on five hits. Jake Petricka (3-7) was charged with the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits and three walks in four innings.

Game two saw both teams score in the first inning with solo home runs. Silverio hit a titanic blast against Adam Olbrychowski to give Winston the early lead, but Andre Rienzo allowed a homer to Hood to level the game at one in the bottom of the inning.

The P-Nats broke the tie in the fourth inning when Jeff Kobernus tripled to start the frame and later scored on an RBI fielder's choice off Leon's bat. They added two insurance runs in the sixth inning thanks to two walks, two singles, and an error.

The Dash could not manage a hit after Wilkins singled immediately after the Silverio home run, going six straight innings without one. Potomac only managed four hits on the evening, but both teams combined to allow 12 walks.

Reliever Neil Holland (2-0) got the win with 1.1 scoreless innings while Rienzo (5-5) took the loss after giving up two runs on two hits in five innings.

Leon had two doubles, four RBI, four walks, and two runs scored between both games, while Hood went a combined 3 for 6 with a double, a homer, two RBI, four runs scored, a walk, and two steals.

Saturday was the first time since July 30, 2010 that the Dash were swept in a doubleheader. The losses dropped Winston-Salem to one-half game behind Kinston for first place in the Southern Division and a playoff berth.

The four-game series wraps up on Sunday afternoon when Winston-Salem and Potomac play each other for the final time in the regular season. RHP Ryan Buch (3-4, 5.15) starts opposite RHP Erick Davis (0-2, 4.66). First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. with the audio broadcast beginning at 12:45 on www.wsdash.com .

The Dash return to BB&T Ballpark for their final home stand of the 2011 regular season on Friday, August 26.
