
Indians Fall in Myrtle Beach 7-2

MYRTLE BEACH, SC, (August 20, 2011)-The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (27-28, 66-57) defeated the Kinston Indians (29-25, 67-56) on Saturday night at BB&T Coastal Field. Myrtle Beach used a pair of homeruns en-route to the 7-2 victory.
Myrtle Beach scored first as the second hitter of the game Travis Adair hit a home run to deep right field making the score 1-0 for the Pelicans. They weren't done in the first as they tacked on a pair off K-Tribe starter Mike Rayl.
Kinston cut the lead to two runs when they platted a run in the top of the second on a Justin Toole base hit.
In the bottom of the third inning Rayl had two outs but then walked the Pelican's first basemen Andrew Clark. Mike Olt who was just activated last night homered to deep left field making the score 5-1.
Adair doubled to start off the bottom of the fifth inning and eventually came into score on the Olt double down the right field line. It was Olt's third RBI of the night. This was Olt's first game back to Carolina League action after he broke his collarbone on June sixth. The score was 6-1 headed to the sixth inning. Myrtle Beach added one run late and took a seven to one lead heading to the ninth.
In the Top of the ninth Kinston added a run when Myrtle Beach reliever Trevor Hurley walked in a run. The Final score was Myrtle Beach 7 and Kinston 2.
The winning pitcher was LHP Chad Bell who improves his record to (3-1). Bell pitched seven innings allowing just six hits, and one walk while striking out eight and allowing just one run. The losing pitcher was Mike Rayl who fell to (1-2). The Pelicans have won two of the first three games of the four game set. Kinston will look for the split tomorrow as they send Clayton Cook (8-8, 3.86) vs. LHP Miguel De Los Santos (5-3,2.83) for Myrtle Beach in the series finale starting at 6:05pm.
