Winston-Salem jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one inning and didn't look back, downing Lynchburg 11-0 to take game three in the series. Kevin Coddington singled twice in the ballgame for the Hillcats, who have been outscored 27-2 in the series.

With the loss, Lynchburg is officially eliminated from playoff contention in the second half in the Carolina League North Division.

Winston got on the board in a big way in the bottom of the first inning. The first six batters reached against starter Daniel Guerrero, resulting in five Dash runs. Drew Garcia, Jose Martinez and Jon Gilmore led off the frame with singles. Gilmore's drove in Garcia. Seth Loman walked to load the bases. Nick Ciolli and Luis Sierra then hit back-to-back two-run doubles to put up a five spot in the first.

The Dash wasn't done though. In the fourth and fifth, Winston-Salem scored on two-out home runs. In the fourth, Martinez hit a solo shot. Kyle Shelton hit a two-run blast in the fifth inning to make it 8-0 Dash.

The first three batters reached in the seventh inning, Ciolli doubled and advanced to third on a single from Sierra. Logan Johnson drove in Ciolli with a single. After reliever Jeff Jeffords retired Shelton, Greg Paiml hit a two-run double to put Winston up 11-0.

Daniel Guerrero lasted four innings in his start this afternoon. He gave up six runs, all earned and struck out four. Guerrero gets the loss to move to 2-2 on the season with Lynchburg. Joe Serafin threw six scoreless for the Dash to earn the win, his third.

The 11-run loss was the largest margin of the defeat so far this season.

The Cats and Dash finish up the season series tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Josh Ravin (2-0, 0.40) starts for Lynchburg opposite Terry Doyle (7-8, 3.56) for the Dash. The Hillcats On-Deck Show presented by Honda/Suzuki of Lynchburg hits the airwaves at 6:40 p.m. on 105.5 FM KD Country in Lynchburg or Lynchburg-Hillcats.com.
