Hotchkiss Named CL Pitcher of the Year

The Carolina League announced its postseason awards today, and former Hillcats Pitcher Jordan Hotchkiss was named 2010 Carolina League Pitcher of the Year. In 31 games and 15 starts, Hotchkiss was 10-4 with a 2.30 ERA with Lynchburg. He was promoted to Double-A Carolina August 20.
Hotchkiss started 2010 in the bullpen for Lynchburg. He made 15 appearances out of the bullpen before making a spot start in the second game of a doubleheader May 29. After that game, he came out of the bullpen only once, and started every other appearance. As a reliever, Hotchkiss was 4-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 16 games. Hotchkiss was 6-4 with a 2.63 ERA in 15 starts. He struck out 71 and walked 23 in 85.2 innings pitched. Opponents hit only .211 against him.
Hotchkiss left Lynchburg as the Carolina League Leader in ERA and winning percentage (71.4). He was tied for second in wins with 10 and WHIP (1.03), and third in the league in opponent's average upon his promotion. Hotchkiss was selected by Cincinnati in the 31st round of the 2007 MLB Draft.
