Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WOODBRIDGE, VA (MAY 11, 2013) - With Potomac leading the Dash 4-1 through four innings, rain forced a suspension of Saturday night's contest at Pfitzner Stadium. As a result, this game will be finished Sunday at noon before a seven-inning contest, which will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game.
Weather officially halted the game at 7:57 p.m., and the two teams waited out a 95-minute delay before the umpiring crew of Dan Merzel and Brian Miller officially suspended play.
Winston-Salem starter Chris Beck did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, but Potomac plated four runs, all of which scored with two outs, during that frame.
Caleb Ramsey's run-producing single tied the game, and Justin Miller immediately followed with a two-run blast to left. Two batters later, Billy Burns capped the fourth-inning scoring with an RBI double down the line in left.
The Dash took an early lead with a run in the top of the second. David Herbek came up with a two-out infield single, and Mark Haddow hustled home from second to tally the game's first run.
However, Winston-Salem stranded four runners, three of which were in scoring position, in the first two innings before Potomac starter Taylor Hill settled down to retire six of the seven he faced in the third and fourth.
These two teams will finish two games beginning with this suspended contest at noon. Pregame coverage begins at 11:45 a.m. on wsdash.com/broadcast.
The Dash expect to reach their one millionth fan at BB&T Ballpark on Thursday, May 16. On the night the Dash reach this milestone, one fan will have a chance to win one million dollars. Visit wsdash.com to purchase tickets for this historic event.
