MYRTLE BEACH, SC (JULY 29, 2010) - Thursday night's Winston-Salem Dash game against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans has been postponed due to severe thunderstorms that rendered the playing surface at BB&T Coastal Field unplayable. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 6:05 p.m.

An intense storm arrived as the Dash was taking batting practice at about 5 p.m. The field was cleared and the tarp was laid down just before relentless rains and persistent lightening entered the area. The heavy rain continued until about 6 p.m. The Pelicans organization waited roughly two hours from the scheduled start for the field to dry out, but the warning track and most of the outfield were flooded to the point where the game could not be salvaged.

Winston-Salem and Myrtle Beach will play two seven-inning games on Friday. Game one will begin at 6:05 p.m. Starting pitchers for both teams have not yet been announced.

The Dash returns to BB&T Ballpark on Monday, August 2 when it opens a seven-game home stand against Wilmington and Frederick.
