Dartis Willis Named NBL Canada Executive of the Year
May 6, 2016 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Windsor Express News Release
The National Basketball League of Canada announced it's 2015-16 season award winners on Friday May 6th.
Representing the Express on the list was Windsor's President & CEO Dartis Willis Sr. as the recipient of the Ian Fowler Executive of the Year award.
A statement from the league read, "The owner of the two-time NBL champion Express has seen increased attendance at the WFCU Centre, and his addition of the "Clash at the Colosseum," Windsor's annual game played at Caesars Windsor, has evolved into a marquee midseason event for the league."
Since bringing his vision of professional basketball to Windsor in 2012, Willis has worked effortlessly to engrain the team in the local community.
Under Willis' guidance, the Express have won back-to-back league championships in 2014 & 2015, hosted the first ever professional basketball game in a casino at Caesars Windsor and turned it into a recurring annual event, hosted the NBA Development League's Raptors 905 in their first ever game played as a franchise, and driven up game attendance year after year.
