Outer Banks Daredevils News Release
Kill Devil Hills, N.C. - Another hard fought game against the Wilson Tobs (13-13) saw the Outer Banks Daredevils (11-13) fall. The Tobs Chase Bebout records his first win of the season (1-3). While Richard Hawkins (1-1) records the lose as he allows three runs to cross the plate, all on two home runs by the Tobs Ryan Mathews.
The night started promising for the Daredevils as they put the first run of the game across in the third when Tyler Sciacca scored on an error by the first baseman. However that would be the only run of the game that the Tobs would allow to cross as the âDevils would leave five runners on through the remainder of the game. Three times in the ball game the âDevils would leave runners on third and not be able to bring them home.
Chad Carmen proved to be the best hitter of the night for the Daredevils, as he would go 3-4 with three singles. Richard Hawkins got the start and after starting off strong he would allow a two run home run to last weeks CPL hitter of the week Ryan Mathews. Hawkins left the first pitch high and Mathews sent it soaring over the left field wall. In the seventh Mathews looks at a 3-1 count and Hawkins leaves another high fastball in the heart of the zone, same result as Mathews sent his second homer of the game to almost the exact same location over the left field wall.
The Tobs starter Chase Bebout had a strong night where he recorded the win throwing seven full innings allowing one errand run, on seven hits, one walk, while fanning six.
The Daredevils return to action tomorrow night at home against the Peninsula Pilots, first pitch is at 7:05 pm EST.
