Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Senators continued their winning ways on Wednesday night, defeating the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3-2. Michael Daniel hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Sens the 3-2 win.

Adrian Alaniz earned his second win of the year, going 3.2 innings and allowing just one run while striking out a season high eight batters. Atahualpa Severino picked up his second save retiring the final four batters he faced after walking the first two.

New Hampshire broke through first, scoring a run in the bottom on the third for a 1-0 lead.

The Sens tied the game in the fourth on a rbi single off the bat of Bill Rhinehart to drive in Jemel Spearman.

New Hampshire regained the lead in the sixth inning on a home run off the bat of David Cooper. That set the stage for Daniel. Freddie Bynum had reached on a bunt and went to second on a throwing error. Daniel took three pitches out of the strikeout before lining his seventh home run of the season just over the wall in right.

The Senators pitching staff combined to strike out a season high 16 batters and allowed just two runs. In six games this season with New Hampshire, the Senators pitching staff has allowed just five total runs.

The Sens are now 63-65, just two games under .500 for the first time since beating Reading in the Sens home opener on April 16th. The Senators go for a series sweep on Thursday night with RH Brad Meyers on the mound. Game time Thursday night is 7:05pm.
