DAN YOCHUM - PLAYER
Yochum joined the Montreal Alouettes in 1972 as an offensive tackle and played nine seasons with the team until his final year in 1980 when he played five games for the Alouettes and later played with the Eskimos. Yochum won many awards and honours in the Alouettes uniform, and served as the cornerstone of the one of the most dominating offensive line in Alouettes history. He was named to the Eastern Division All-Star Team seven times from 1973-1979 and was a four time CFL All-Star from 1975-1978. He was the winner of the Schenley Award for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 1976. He participated in the Grey Cup in 1974, 1975, 1977, and 1980 winning the championship in 1974, 1977 and 1980. Yochum was the second round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1971, but opted instead to play with the Montreal Alouettes. He played alongside current interim President of the Montreal Alouettes, Larry Smith.
"I had the time of my life playing with the Montreal Alouettes and living in Canada. We had a dynasty from 1974 to 1978 thanks to a great team built by Sam Berger, J.I. Albrecht and Marv Levy. I had the honour of playing with the elite of the CFL, Barry Randell, Peter Dalla Riva, Junior Ah You, Gord Judges, Glen Weir and Dickie Harris to name just a few," said Dan Yochum.
