Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

Winnipeg, Manitoba – When the football season officially kicks-off in Winnipeg, Thursday June 17 vs Ottawa, it'll be the Labatt Blue Bombers and the Labatt Blue Lightning cheerleaders that hit the field again. It's all part of a new, three-year agreement inked today that grants title sponsorship to the football club's most enduring corporate sponsor.

"Since 1951, we've proudly helped put the ‘Blue' in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers," said Doug Lavallee Labatt Breweries - Western Canada. "This deal continues the tradition and, in earning title sponsorship, finally makes the relationship an enduring one.," he quipped.

Other details of the agreement include:

True Blue Transport:

· Every home game, watch for a massive fleet of buses running True Blue fans from local licensees straight to the Blue Zone

Blue Zone:

· Where fans & fun meet

· 200 specially-reserved seats in the Labatt Blue Zone

· 1st down foam hands & free refreshments

· Greeted by cheerleaders

· Fan of the game selected by game MC, invited back for final game & given chance to win trip to Grey Cup in Vancouver.

Free Blue Promotions:

· Extensive, city-wide promotions to giveaway signed Bomber/Labatt Blue merchandise

"Our job of tackling ‘unfinished business' wouldn't have seemed complete without Labatt Blue at our side," said Lyle Bauer, President & CEO, Winnipeg Football Club. "We're delighted that we've been able to further strengthen this partnership that fans helped us begin so many decades ago."

As the story goes, Lavallee said Labatt had just introduced the blue-labeled Labatt Pilsener Lager. "As a major sponsor of the Blue Bombers at the time, it didn't take long for fans to link the two. Soon, they started asking for Blue when they headed to the bar."

Obviously, the name stuck. Today, Labatt Blue, as it is officially known, is Canada's best selling beer.

Labatt Breweries of Canada is one of the nation's longest established and most successful brewing companies. A brewer of more than 60 different beers, Labatt employs 3,700 Canadians, operates eight breweries from coast to coast and distributes in 40 countries internationally. Labatt is part of Belgian-based Interbrew S.A., the largest brewing group in the world.
