BURN TO HOST KANSAS CITY SATURDAY AT COTTON BOWL
The Dallas Burn will look to extend their unbeaten streak to four games as they host the Kansas City Wizards this Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl. The Burn (1-1-2, 5 points) is currently in fourth place in the Western Conference, one point ahead of the fifth-place Wizards (1-1-1, 4 points). The first 5,000 fans at Saturday's game will receive a free Dallas Burn T-shirt, courtesy of Western Union and Kmart.
BURN/WIZARDS SERIES NOTES
The Burn leads the all-time series vs. Kansas City, 11-8-1...Dallas has won the last four meetings at the Cotton Bowl, outscoring the Wizards 16-1 over that span...Kansas City's last victory at Dallas was a 2-1 shootout win on May 20, 1998...Burn forward Jason Kreis has torched the Wizards in the past, netting 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points in 19 career games...in the last four home games vs. the Wizards, Kreis has six goals and three assists...Preki has four goals and three assists for 11 points in 16 games vs. Dallas.
KREIS SCORING TEAR CONTINUES; MILESTONE REACHED IN LAST GAME
With a goal in last Saturday's match vs. Los Angeles, forward Jason Kreis has now netted a goal in three consecutive games and has accounted for three of the Burn's four goals this season. The Burn record for most consecutive games with a goal is five (Kreis in 2000 and Damian in 1997). Also last Saturday, Kreis became only the fourth player in league history to amass 15,000 minutes played. Additionally, he is only five points shy of becoming the third player to reach 200 career points.
BURN ATTENDANCE AHEAD OF LAST YEAR
With 17,388 fans in attendance at last Saturday's match, attendance at Burn games for the 2002 season is currently 5% ahead of last year's average after three home dates and 9% ahead of last year's final regular season average. Saturday's attendance was the largest non-Fourth of July crowd since June of 2000 and the second-highest attendance for a non-Fourth of July and non-doubleheader game since 1996. BURN TO TAKE PRACTICE TO GARLAND TUESDAY EVENING
As part of the Dallas Burn 5th Major Sport Program, the team will conduct a training session in conjunction with the Garland Soccer Association at North Garland High School on Tuesday, April 23 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. For Tuesday's practice, the team will conduct a full practice followed by an autograph session.
COLORADO @ LOS ANGELES ON ESPN2 SATURDAY AT 3:00 P.M.
This week's Soccer Saturday matchup features the league's leading scorer in Carlos Ruiz as the Los Angeles Galaxy host the Colorado Rapids at 3:00 p.m. on ESPN2. Ruiz, with six goals in four games, has helped the Galaxy to a 2-0-2 record - the only undefeated team in MLS.
