Daleo Named CBA All-Star Coach
January 9, 2006 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Rockford Lightning News Release
The CBA All-Star game on January 17, 2006 will now have Lightning Head Coach Chris
Daleo leading the Eastern Conference All-Stars for the third time in four years.
Daleo was announced Monday by the CBA league office as the Eastern Conference coach
for the 22nd Annual All-Star Classic in Boise, Idaho.
With the highest quarter point average (4.3) and a league best 17 wins at the
All-Star break, Coach Daleo is off to his best start in his four years as Lightning
Head Coach. He was named the CBA coach of the month in November starting the season
off with a 5-1 record and coaching his team to the top of the Eastern Conference.
Daleo has 99 career wins with the Lightning and ranks second among all-time leaders
behind Mauro Pannagio (131 wins). His .593 winning percentage (99-68 record) is the
highest in Rockford history.
Daleo led the Lightning to a 26-22 record and a second place finish in the
conference last season. The Lightning beat the Great Lakes Storm three games to two
in the first round of the CBA Playoffs and advanced to the CBA Championship Finals,
where they lost three games to one to Sioux Falls.
Daleo led the Eastern All-Stars to a 114-110 victory over the Western Conference in
last year's game and will look for similar success this year in Boise. He will be
coaching four of his own players as Roger Powell, Kenyon Gamble, Ronnie Fields, and
Marlon Parmer were each selected to the Eastern Conference roster. Another Eastern
All-Star invitee is former Lightning guard Jimmy "Snap" Hunter of the Gary
Steelheads who played under Coach Daleo last season.
"I'm very happy to be named All-Star coach for my third time in four years", said
Daleo. "That shows consistency in winning programs. But in reality, players make
plays and I have been fortunate enough to have surrounded myself with players who
understand and work very hard."
The 22nd Annual CBA All-Star Classic, sponsored by Athletes.com, will be held at the
Qwest Arena in downtown Boise, Idaho on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006. The event is being
hosted by the CBA's Idaho Stampede. With tip-off at 8:15 p.m. (CST), the All-Star
game can be heard LIVE by Lightning fans on ESPN Radio 1380 "the jock", the
Stateline sports leader with coverage starting at 8:00 p.m. (CST).
