Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 9, 2014) - While the Duke boys kept viewers glued to the television set evading Boss Hogg all over Hazzard County, thousands swooned at each and every scene featuring Cousin Daisy. On Thursday, June 12, the Fort Myers Miracle welcome the original Daisy Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard, Catherine Bach, to Hammond Stadium presented by National Deli and Beasley Broadcasting.

There is no denying the fact that The Dukes of Hazzard was one of the most popular television shows in the late 70's and early 80's. The reason for its popularity was not only because of the Duke Boys and the General Lee but also because of Cousin Daisy and her Daisy Duke shorts.

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of the show, Bach, who played Daisy Duke for the entire run of the CBS series (1979-1985) will sign autographs for fans and pose for pictures while the Miracle take on the Charlotte Stone Crabs at 7:05 p.m. Gates to the ballpark open at 6 p.m.

During her time on The Dukes of Hazzard, Bach was encouraged by a producer to pose as Daisy Duke for a poster. That poster went on tell sell five million copies. In addition, her legs were insured for $1 million. The memorable Daisy Dukes look (jean shorts, T-shirt, high heels), was an idea of her own as the producers originally had a different look in mind for the character.

"Not many characters in the long history of television light up the screen like Daisy Duke," said Miracle General Manager Andrew Seymour. "In fact, Daisy Duke wasn't only a character on a great TV show, it became part of the American lexicon and a fashion-trend."

While best known for her work on The Dukes of Hazzard, Bach has appeared in movies like Thunderbolt & Lightfoot and joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as Anita Lawson in 2012.

"We are happy to have Ms. Bach coming to Fort Myers," said Seymour. "While the original May appearance didn't work out [due to her daughter's graduation commitments], we are fortunate to have found a date that fit both of our calendars."

Ms. Bach also has her own clothing line available at www.catherinebach.com Those folks wishing to contact Ms. Bach for an interview, should email her publicist Steve Rohr at steve@lexiconpublicrelations.com.

For tickets, fans can call the Miracle offices at (239) 768-4210 or order online at www.miraclebaseball.com.
