SALISBURY, MD - The Hickory Crawdads blanked the Delmarva Shorebirds, 9-0, for their fourth shutout victory of the season, before 2,061 fans at Arthur W . Perdue Stadium on Tuesday night.

Hickory LHP Victor Payano (W, 4-2) struck out a season-high 11 batters through seven scoreless frames with only three hits and two walks allowed. Payano struck out six straight Shorebirds from midway through the first through the start of the third.

The 'Dads (25-25) bats struck for a pair of runs in the top of the second against LHP Matt Taylor (L, 2-2) and the Shorebirds (21-30). DH Zach Cone led off with a triple and was joined on the bases one out later when RF Chris Grayson was hit by a pitch. After Grayson stole second base, C Kevin Torres placed a two-run infield single up the middle for the 2-0 lead.

Cone swung the 'Dads further in front with a solo home run in the third, before Hickory added two more runs in the top of the fourth. With two down, CF Jordan Akins kept the frame going with a triple. 1B Jhonny Gomez then worked a walk to put runners on the corners. Akins and Gomez completed a double steal, with Akins darting home from third and Gomez moving to second. A 2B Rougned Odor single moved Gomez to third, before Gomez sprinted home on an errant pick-off attempt by Taylor, stretching the 'Dads lead to 5-0.

The Crawdads continued the charge with an RBI double by LF Jeremy Williams in the fifth to make it 6-0, and then tacked on two more in the top of the seventh. With two on and two down, 1B Jhonny Gomez ripped an RBI double that scored RF Chris Grayson from second and advanced Akins from first to third. Akins then scored the stanza's second run on a wild pitch, putting Hickory ahead, 8-0.

The 'Dads put the finishing touches on the onslaught with a Gomez RBI single in the top of the ninth inning for their ninth run of the game. After Payano baffled the Shorebirds through his seven innings, LHP Will Lamb logged two perfect frames with two strikeouts, closing the 9-0 shutout win for Hickory.
