FC Tulsa News Release

TULSA - Two FC Tulsa players were honored by the USL Championship after Tulsa's 2-1 road victory over Western Conference leaders Rio Grande Valley FC. Attacker Rodrigo da Costa and midfielder Eric Bird both made the league's Team of the Week for Week 10. It's the first Team of the Week honor in 2021 for both da Costa and Bird, though da Costa earned honorable mention in Week 2 of the season.

Da Costa is a man in form at the moment, scoring both Tulsa goals on Friday, to earn his spot in the Team of the Week. He also won all three of his attempted tackles and won seven of his 13 duels. His performance nearly netted him Player of the Week, as he finished runner-up for that award with 17% of the USL Championship national media panel vote.

While da Costa carried FC Tulsa offensively in the win at RGVFC, Bird did the dirty work in the midfield, winning all five of his tackles, nine of 14 duels and recording six interceptions. It's the second consecutive season that Bird has been named to a USL Championship Team of the Week after he secured the honor following Week 14 of the 2020 season.

Bird and da Costa were joined on the Team of the Week by OKC Energy FC's Robert Coronado. The Black Gold Derby sides will meet on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City for the second edition of the Oklahoma rivalry in 2021. FC Tulsa won the first meeting in the season opener in OKC by a 3-1 scoreline. The final two Derby meetings of the campaign will take place at ONEOK Field in Tulsa on July 17 and October 30.
