Lakeland, FL - Brennan Smith held Dunedin to two hits over seven innings and Lakeland shut out the Blue Jays on Friday night at Joker Marchant Stadium, 4-0.

Christian Lopes had two of the three hits for the D-Jays and reached three times. Mike Reeves delivered the other.

Smith (5-5) walked one and struck out two in his seven innings of work to earn his second victory against the D-Jays this season. In those two wins, the right-hander has surrendered just one run and seven hits in 13 innings.

Brad Allen (1-4) pitched well in his first start since May for Dunedin, but suffered the loss. He lasted four innings and gave up one run on four hits, striking out three. His last 12 appearances came in relief. Wil Browning threw a perfect bottom of the eighth out of the bullpen for the Jays.

Andenson Verastegui completed the shutout for the Flying Tigers with a pair of shutout innings.

The series concludes with game three tomorrow night at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland. Right-hander Conor Fisk will take the hill for the D-Jays. First pitch is set for 6:00 ET and the action can be heard on DunedinBlueJays.com.
