
D-Fenders Gerald Green Signs with New Jersey Nets

EL SEGUNDO - Gerald Green has signed with the New Jersey Nets making him the fifth Los Angeles D-Fenders player to receive a GATORADE Call-Up this season, it was announced today. Green becomes the eighth GATORADE Call-Up in D-Fenders history as well as the 28th NBA Development League player to join an NBA roster this season.
Green, a 6-8 guard acquired by Los Angeles on December 28th, has played in 22 games (13 starts) for the D-Fenders this season, averaging 19.1 points (48.0 FG%, 45.8 3FG%), 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 30.6 minutes. Additionally, Green, named to the 2012 NBA D-League All-Star team, became the first All-Star Game Most Valuable Player in D-Fenders history.
Selected by Boston in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft (18th overall), Green, who was a member of the Lakers 2011-12 preseason roster, has appeared in 181 games (41 starts) over four seasons with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Mavericks and Rockets, averaging 7.5 points (.358 3FG%), 2.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists. Green, the 2007 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Champion out of Gulf Shores Academy (Houston, TX), declared for the draft after his senior season where he was named a 2005 McDonald's All-American and won the McDonald's Slam Dunk Contest.
