
Bobby Simmons Signs with the Los Angeles Clippers

RENO, NEV.- Reno Bighorn Bobby Simmons has signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, it was announced today. This marks the second GATORADE Call-Up for a Bighorn during the 2011-2012 season and the 29th on the season for NBA D-League.
The signing brings Simmons (6-8, 220 lbs.) back to the franchise where he averaged 16.4 points and 5.9 rebounds during the 2004-05 NBA season, when he won the NBA's Most Improved Player Award. In 21 games with the Bighorns this season, he averaged 13.5 points and 7.6 rebounds while shooting 50.7 percent from the field. His season was highlighted with a 19 point, 18 rebound game on Feb. 18 against the Idaho Stampede.
Simmons was selected in the second round (49th overall) of the 2001 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics. He averaged 9.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and shot 40 percent on three pointers over nine seasons in the NBA.
Last season, Simmons joined the Bighorns for the final ten games of the regular season, averaging 15.4 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 52.8 percent from the field. During last season's NBA D-League playoffs, he scored 13.2 points and grabbed 6.2 rebounds in 35 minutes per game.
Simmons is expected to join the Clippers for their matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday at the STAPLES Center.
