
D-Fenders Fall to Warriors

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders dropped their first contest of a five-game home stand, falling 93-92 at Toyota Sports Center on Friday night.
Los Angeles (2-3) jumped out to a commanding 37-22 lead behind Gary Flowers 14 first-quarter points and the team's 54.2 field goal percentage on nine assists (0 turnovers). However, the momentum swung in favor of Santa Cruz in the second and third quarters as Los Angles was outscored by 21 points combined. In an attempt to rally, Courtney Fortson scored 20 points in the final quarter to shoulder the bulk of the scoring load, but the D-Fenders were unable to complete the comeback.
Fortson led all scorers in the game as he totaled 24 points (9-9 FT) and six assists for the D-Fenders. Meanwhile, Gary Flowers tallied 20 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks for his second-straight double-double, Darius Johnson-Odom finished with 16 points and six assists, Orien Greene pitched in 16 points, five rebounds and three steals, and Jarrid Famous added 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
The Warriors were paced by Taylor Griffin (22 points, 13 rebounds), Stefhon Hannah (16 points, 5 assists), and Mickell Gladness (13 points, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks). Additionally, Travis Leslie contributed 12 points and seven rebounds to help the Warriors' record improve to 3-1 overall.
The D-Fenders will look to rebound tomorrow at home in a rematch versus the Warriors. Tip-off is set for 6:30 pm in El Segundo.
