
Charge Run Through Armor for 118-88 Victory

The Canton Charge nabbed their first road victory of the year in a 118-88 rout of the Springfield Armor at the MassMutual Center on Saturday night. Canton improved their record to 2-4 on the season while Springfield fell to 3-2.
The Charge offense was firing on all cylinders, as they achieved season-highs in points (118), field goal percentage (51%) and three-point field goal percentage (44%). Canton led for the entire game with the exception of the first 1:29 and closed the contest out with a season-high 32 points in the fourth quarter. The Charge maintained a double-digit lead throughout the entire second half.
Six Charge players scored in double-figures, led by Kyle Gibson's second-straight 20+ point game as he poured in 25 on 8-of-15 shooting with four rebounds, six assists and a steal in 29 minutes. In his first D-League action since being assigned by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Jon Leuer scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting with five rebounds in 27 minutes.
Ben Uzoh paced the Armor with 30 points, five assists and five steals in 39 minutes. James Mays added 25 points, four rebounds and two steals in 40 minutes. Chas McFarland scored 13 points and nabbed six boards in 29 minutes from the center position. Canton's bench outscored Springfield's 48-13 and the Charge outrebounded the Armor 54-29. The Armor came into tonight as the top rebounding squad in the D-League, averaging 57.5 per game while Canton was fourth with 50.2 boards a night.
Arinze Onuaku tallied his third double-double of the season with 13 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes. New addition Dominique Johnson supplied 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting with four rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench for Canton. Micheal Eric added 10 points, eight rebounds and a block in 18 minutes. Canton came into tonight the best free-throw shooting team in the league at 83% and hit 25-of-29 attempts tonight.
The Charge are back in action in Portland tomorrow evening, December 9th, with a matchup at the Maine Red Claws at 5:00 p.m.
