EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired forward Jamaal Franklin, it was announced today by General Manager Nick Mazzella. In a related move, the team has waived forward D.J. Shumpert.
Franklin returns to the D-Fenders after appearing in 21 games for the team during the 2014-15 season. The 6'5" forward recorded three triple doubles, averaging 19.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Franklin earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Denver Nuggets on April 12, 2015, playing in three games, tallying 1.0 points, 1.0 assists, and 0.7 rebounds per game. Franklin was drafted 41st overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2013 NBA Draft, appearing in 21 games, with averages of 1.9 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.3 assists in 7.7 minutes.
