
Green's Hot Hand Leads the Bighorns Past the Vipers

HIDALGO, TX ---- With Bighorns' Erick Green netting 30 points in the first half of play and Vince Hunter logging his fourth double-double of the season, the Bighorns defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 143-118 Friday night at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, TX. The Bighorns were paced by Green who finished the contest with 39 points, six rebounds and eight assist. Green went 14-24 from the field and 6-11 from the three-point range. David Stockton netted 22 points and added six assists for the Bighorns while Hunter logged a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Green started his hot streak in the first quarter notching 18 points and adding two assists. Chad Toppert shot 100 percent from the field and 100 percent from behind the arc to notch six points in the quarter as Cliff Hammonds tallied five points, three rebounds and three assists in the first. The Bighorns outscored the Vipers 38-27 in quarter. Green added 12 more points for the Bighorns in the second quarter, going 5-7 from the field and 2-4 from the second. Hunter had six points and five rebounds in the quarter. Toppert and Reggie Hearn had three points and one rebounds each in the second. The Bighorns lead the Vipers 69-52 at the half. During the first half in play, the Bighorns went 12-26 (46.2%) from the three-point range compared to the Vipers going 2-21 (9.5%). Hearn led the Bighorns during the third quarter with eight points. Green Followed Hearn closely, scoring seven points, two rebounds and two assists in the quarter. The Bighorns led the Vipers by more than 26 points midway in the third. In the final quarter, Stockton heated-up, netting 15 points and adding three assists. Stockton went 5-8 from the field and 3-3 from behind the arc. Hearn had five points in the third as Duje Dukan and Hunter had four points each. Hunter grabbed three rounds in the quarter. The Bighorns outscored the Vipers 74-66 in the second half and shot 56.3 percent from the three-point range compared to the Viper's 33.3 percent. The Bighorns continue on the road, traveling to Austin to face the Austin Spurs Saturday night at 5 p.m. (PST) before returning to the Reno Events Center Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.
