Washington, D.C. (November 21, 2006) - D.C. United announced today the club has waived Andy Metcalf, Matt Nickell and Robert Ssejjemba. Each player will be available to other MLS teams in a waiver draft, to be held later today.

"We'd like to thank these three players for their contributions to D.C. United," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "We wish each of them the best of luck in their future endeavors."

Metcalf was acquired by United in the second round of this year's Supplemental Draft. The University of Memphis product did not see any time on the field with the first team, but appeared in all 12 games (nine starts) for the United reserves, logging 873 minutes and chipping in one assist. He scored the final goal in United's 4-0 friendly win over Celtic FC on July 12.

Nickell was drafted by D.C. in the first round of the 2005 Supplemental Draft and made seven first team appearances over the last two seasons. He scored eight goals and handed out four assists in 20 total games for the reserves over the last two years, helping the 2005 team to the inaugural Reserve Division title.

Ssejjemba joined the Black-and-Red late in 2006, earning a single first team appearance. He played in three games for the reserve squad and scored three goals in the team's 4-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Sept. 10. A member of the Richmond Kickers prior to joining United, Ssejjemba won the USL Second Division MVP Award in 2006.
