
Rapids Waive Six Players

Denver, CO (Tuesday, November 21, 2006)- The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has waived defender Eric Denton, midfielder Alain Nkong, and forwards Luchi Gonzalez, Sasha Gotsmanov, Aaron King and Melvin Tarley.
Denton, who was acquired by the team in 2005, played in 22 games for Colorado in his second season with the Rapids. He had two assists and no goals in 2006.
Gonzalez, who also completed his second year with the team, saw most of his playing time with the Rapids Reserves who captured the MLS Reserve Division title this season.
Gotsmanov was signed by the Rapids before the 2005 season and only made one appearance with the first team in his two seasons in Colorado.
Denver native King came to Colorado from Los Angeles before the 2006 season and did not get on the field for the first team but scored two goals in the Reserve Division this year.
Nkong rejoined the Rapids in 2006 after being waived by the team following the 2005 season. The Cameroonian midfielder played in five regular season games without recording a goal or assist.
The Rapids signed Tarley midway through the 2006 campaign. The Liberian forward played a total of 34 minutes with the first team.
