D.C. United to Hold Open Team Practice on March 15

CHANTILLY, VA (February 26, 2003) - D.C. United announced today plans to conduct an open team practice on Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the club's home field, RFK Stadium. The training session will give soccer fans of all ages a sneak preview of the newly assembled team and the opportunity to view available seats for purchase in RFK's new downsized soccer capacity configuration. Parties interested in purchasing season tickets for the 2003 season will be able to speak to the D.C. United Sales staff during the event. Gates to the stadium open at 10:00 a.m. and the 90-minute training session begins at 10:30 a.m.

"We hope fans can come out to the practice session to have a first-hand look at our new team," said United Senior Vice President and General Manager Stephen Zack. "We are really excited about the upcoming season and this will be a wonderful opportunity for fans to see our team up-close and personal as we get closer to opening day."

This will be the first open practice of the season as the team returns to the home pitch after returning from preseason training in Florida. The excitement builds as returning players Marco Etcheverry, Ben Olsen, Nick Rimando, Bobby Convey, Santino Quaranta, Milton Reyes and Eliseo Quintanilla are joined by many newcomers including player/coach Hristo Stoitchkov, midfielder Dema Kovalenko, U.S. National Team standout Earnie Stewart, and first overall pick of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, Alecko Eskandarian.

At the conclusion of the training session, Coach Ray Hudson will address the crowd and players will be available for autographs. All fans in attendance can enter to win an autographed team jersey.

D.C. United sales representatives will be on hand to assist fans interested in 2003 ticket packages. Full season, half season, and flex ticket plans are now on sale through the D.C. United office at 703-478-6600. Individual match tickets to the April 19th home opener are also being sold with prices ranging from $16 for Spectator level (endline) to $36 for Mezzanine level seating. Group discounted pricing (minimum of 20 tickets) ranges from $13 (Spectator) to $28 (Mezzanine).

Parking at RFK Stadium will be free for the open session and fans can park in Lots 5 and 8. The public should use the Gate A entrance into the stadium. In the event of inclement weather, please call the weather hotline at 703-478-6600.

Note to Media: Members of the media planning to attend the event should park in Lot 5. Lunch will be served to the media after the training session.
