FC Dallas News Release

Playing two 70-minute games today as part of their preseason training in Florida, the Burn lost 2-0 to the Colorado Rapids in the morning match and rebounded with a 2-1 victory over Nova Southeastern in the afternoon tilt.

In the first game of the day, the Burn played a mixture of reserves and trial players against a Colorado side of mainly starters. Colorado struck first in the match in just the first minute of play on a counter-attack as Chris Henderson found Chris Carrieri with a through ball at the top of the box. With only Burn 'keeper Jeff Cassar to beat, Carrieri dribbled the 'keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net. The Rapids added an insurance goal in the 42nd minute off of a corner kick.

Burn Starters: Jeff Cassar, Carl Bussey, Shavar Thomas, Matt Behncke, Philip Salyer, Paul Dalglish, Ivan Iglesias, Brad Davis, Chris Gbandi, Andy Rosenband, Jerron Nixon Colorado Starters: Scott Garlick, Ritchie Kotschau, Robin Fraser, Kyle Beckerman, Wes Hart, Chris Henderson, Steve Herdsman, Pablo Mastroeni, Mark Chung, Chris Carrieri, Casey Schmidt

For the second match of the day, the Burn fielded a lineup consisting of starters but it was Nova Southeastern that netted the game's first goal in the 13th minute. Burn 'keeper DJ Countess was whistled for illegally handling a back pass, resulting in a free kick inside the box.

Despite every player coming back to form a wall, Nova was able to slip the ball past the spate of defenders for a 1-0 lead. The Burn equalized in the 34th minute when Chad Deering curled a ball into the box from the left flank. Ryan Suarez dummied the ball to Kreis who was all alone at the back post to slot the ball home. Kreis then netted the equalizer in the 50th minute in much the same fashion as his first tally. Joselito Vaca stole the ball at midfield and sent a cross into the box for Tenywa Bonseu. Bonseu flicked the ball onto Kreis at the back post and Kreis one-timed a shot into the lower corner for the 2-1 victory.

Burn Starters: DJ Countess, Ryan Suarez, Tenywa Bonseu, Steve Morrow, Paul Broome, Joselito Vaca, Oscar Pareja, Chad Deering, Ronnie O'Brien, Jason Kreis, Bobby Rhine

The team's next set of games is on Sunday, March 2 as they face Chicago at 1:00 p.m. (ET) and Colorado at 4:00 p.m. (ET).
