
Galaxy to Host CD Motagua of Honduras on March 23 at Titan Stadium

PASADENA, CA (Wednesday, February 26, 2003) - The 2002 MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy will play CD Motagua of Honduras on March 16 and March 23 in the first round home-and-home series of the 2003 CONCACAF Champions Cup, it was announced today by Galaxy Vice President/General Manager Doug Hamilton. The L.A. Galaxy will travel to Motagua for the first leg on Mar. 16 at 4:00 pm and then return home to host the second leg on March 23 at 6:00 pm at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Stadium.
"We are looking forward to getting this competition underway," said Hamilton. "This match will be one of the few chances our fans will have to see the team play locally prior to the inaugural Home Depot Center match on June 7th. We hope there will be a strong showing of support to see the 2002 MLS Cup Champions and our newest arrivals (Hong and Chacon) in action."
Tickets prices for Galaxy-Motagua match are as follows: Reserved $20, General Admission $15, and General Admission Youth (16 and under) $12. Fans can purchase a Champions Cup Reserved Four-Pack in advance of the match for just $72 (a savings $8). The L.A. Galaxy, who won the 2000 CONCACAF Champions' Cup, are paired to play against nine-time league champion Motagua of the Honduran First Division. The Galaxy was drawn into series eight, meaning the winner of the Galaxy-Motagua series will take on the winner of series seven between Arnett Gardens FC (Jamaica) vs. CID Necaxa (Mexico).
The 2003 Champions' Cup quarterfinal matches are tentatively scheduled for April 9 and 16, while the semifinals will be held on April 30 and May 14. The finals will be played over two legs and are scheduled for August/September.
